Observations

About this identification

A young water shoot rising from the pale trunk was photographed with fully formed camel-hoof leaves, each blade split into two rounded lobes. No other Malaysian landscape tree produces this leaf, so the Bauhinia identification is secure; only the exact species awaits a flower.

Identified from photographs of bark, leaves, fallen litter and epiphytes against the Malaysian campus-tree flora. Moderate and tentative records would be settled by a close-up of flowers or fruit.
