About this identification
Long ribbon-like fern strands hang from the fork of a fluted, dark-trunked tree whose crown holds large, symmetrical leaflets with straight venation, matching the mahogany beside the covered walkway. The hanging 'fronds' belong to the fern Pyrrosia, not to the tree itself.
Identified from photographs of bark, leaves, fallen litter and epiphytes against the Malaysian campus-tree flora. Moderate and tentative records would be settled by a close-up of flowers or fruit.
