About this identification
The trunk carries the pale, patchy, python-like mottled bark that is the sea apple's signature, and the crown holds broad, glossy, drooping leaves with occasional orange senescing ones. No two-lobed leaves were found, ruling out the earlier orchid-tree guess. Cream pom-pom flowers or ribbed fruits would confirm it.
Identified from photographs of bark, leaves, fallen litter and epiphytes against the Malaysian campus-tree flora. Moderate and tentative records would be settled by a close-up of flowers or fruit.
